Dr John Meyer received his PhD from The University of Western Ontario in 1978. Hi is Professor and Chair of the graduate program in industrial and organisational psychology and director of the Research Unit for Work and Productivity at Western Ontario. His research interests include employee commitment, work motivation, leadership, and organisational change. His work has been published in leading journals in the field of industrial and organisational psychology (eg Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology) and management (eg Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management).
He has been invited to conduct seminars and workshops in Canada and the US as well as Europe, Asia, and Australia. Dr Meyer is a Fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association, the American Psychological Association, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the International Association of Applied Psychology, and the Association for Psychological Science. He is a former chair of Canadian Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and editor of the OB/HRM section of the Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences. He currently holds the Science seat on the Board of Directors for CPA and is Chair of the Publications committee. In 2007 he was recognised by the Canadian Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology for his ‘distinguished contributions to Industrial-Organizational Psychology in Canada’, and in 2012 was awarded the Helmuth Prize for Achievement in Research by The University of Western Ontario.
