Associate professor Chris Lonsdale’s research examines the motivational underpinnings of behaviour in a variety of contexts, including education, healthcare, and physical activity. His most recent and important contributions have centred on the application of motivational theory to promote health behaviours that enhance well-being. His work includes six large-scale randomised controlled trials of theory-based interventions. These interventions are important for two reasons. First, they provide rigorous experimental tests of theoretical tenets. Second, they seek to translate this knowledge into feasible and scalable interventions that can have benefits for society.
